Anyone who knows me knows I love coffee. It's been my brew of choice for a verrry long time, and there's nothing I enjoy more than a cup of coffee with friends. If you know me well, you will also know that I'm very particular when it comes to my own coffee. Depending on the type, I have different methods of brewing, ingredients and proportions. When I visit my friends or family, and they are politely ask would I like a cup of tea or coffee, I normally reply with: 'what kind of coffee do you have?'. I often would even go to the extreme of making it myself, because I'm that specific about the right coffee and water balance (luckily, most of my friends an family don't mind that, or that's what they tell me).
But there was a time, when I didn't have to worry about what I would get served as a cuppa, and that was back when I was working in the office. Because we've had a Nespresso machine in the kitchen area, and I swear there were days, when that coffee was almost the only reason I was going to work for... Every cup was always spot on, with super reach aroma and that lush crema on top. All what was standing between me and a perfect cup of coffee was a press of a button... And this is when I first time fell in love with Nespresso products.
So you can only imagine how happy I was to be able to team up with them today and enjoy drinking and creating some of their exciting recipes, at the comfort of my own kitchen!
I have tried and re-created two different recipes, Iced Nitro and Caffee Viennois, and both have been an absolute delight! And let me tell you, your friends and family will not believe you've made these yourself! These coffees look so elegant and so stylish, almost as if they were made by a high skilled barista!
Iced Nitro is a cold coffee. It is also known as a brew of ice and fire. Made by blending the ice and the coffee, it will be perfect for summer, when the weather is hot, but you don't necessarily fancy a hot cup of coffee. I loved making it, then pouring it into a glass and watching it settle, it's so mesmerising, almost like watching a storm in a glass!
Caffee Viennois is a classic, and a very chic combination of coffee and whipped milk, often topped with some dark chocolate shavings. Perfect combination of strong brew and super light and silky milk froth. It's an ideal cuppa for any gatherings with family or friends, or if you just want to treat yourself to something a little bit more special than your usual cup.

Iced Nitro and Cafe Viennois
- 1 lungo capsule
- 100 ml fresh cold 0 % milk
dark chocolate shavings
- 1 Risoretto or Espresso capsule
- 100 ml cold water
- 3 medium ice cubes
- 1 teaspoon white sugar (optional)
To make cafe Viennois:
- Brew the Lungo coffee with your coffee machine and pour the coffee into the cup.
- Then, pour 0% cold and fresh milk into the jug up to the minimum level marking.
- Close the lid and press 'start' button on the device. Using the Barista spoon, collect the foam from the jug and generously top it on the coffee. Add some chocolate shavings on top. Enjoy!
For the Iced Nitro:
- Add 3 ice cubes into the jug.
- Brew your coffee and pour it on top of the ice and add sugar (optional).
- Add cold water up to the maximum level of marking. Close the lid and press 'start' button on the device.
- Finally, serve the prepared coffee in a tall glass.
Please note that all my recipes are developed and tested in metric grams. I recommend that you use digital scales for a more accurate results. I have provided a conversion to US customary in the recipe but please note that I haven’t tested using this method.
